We have been collating monthly rainfall stats for Olifants West since 1985, measured at the office near the gate. Below is the latest table, followed by a graph of recent rainy season totals for an instant visual display. 2015 was a disastrous year for much of South Africa. Drought continues to ravage the country and Olifants West is terribly dry. Our annual rainfall normally averages 450-500 millimetres, but last year we only had 227 - the lowest total since 2003. The rainy season normally starts in November, but we have had very little rain this season so far. Long-range forecasts promise that we will have good late rains this summer, but we're still waiting.
